Who we are

Each Sunday at 10 am we gather for Holy Eucharist to give thanks and praise to God, the Source of Life, and be renewed for the week ahead through worship, Anglican music, Holy Communion, and fellowship. Together we actively serve in our community and beyond, partnering with others to bring about a world of justice, peace, and love.

Parish Life

We are delighted to be able to offer vibrant ministry opportunities to our members and to the community, including services of Holy Eucharist and programs of music, fellowship, pastoral care, education, and outreach.

What we believe

We believe that “The mission of the Church is to restore all people to unity with God and each other through Christ. The Church pursues its mission as it prays and worships, proclaims the Gospel, and promotes justice, peace, and love” (The Book of Common Prayer, p. 855). We understand that “Grace is God’s favor toward us, unearned and undeserved; by grace God forgives our sins, enlightens our minds, stirs our hearts, and strengthens our wills” (BCP, p. 858). We celebrate that all people are made in the image of God and that Jesus embraces us all with arms of love. We have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit to help, guide, and empower us in our daily journey with Jesus. Our Sunday worship is rooted in Scripture and found in The Book of Common Prayer, along with the Daily Office, prayers, the Psalter, Catechism, and more. The text of the prayer book can be found online here: www.bcponline.org. As an Episcopal parish, St. Bernard’s is a member of the Diocese of New Jersey, The Episcopal Church, and the Anglican Communion, a world-wide fellowship of Christians whose faith and worship derive historically from the Church of England.

Please join us!

We welcome you to join us for worship and all other events and outreach opportunities. Celebration of the Holy Eucharist, Rite II, occurs every Sunday morning at 10 am. Our wonderful Choir sings from September-May, except on the third Sunday of the month. On the third Sunday of the month we also have a 9 am JOY! service for families with young kids. The JOY! service is an informal, 20-minute, kid-friendly service with songs, a Bible story, Holy Communion, and more. It’s great for infants through adults. We also welcome you to speak with Pastor Beth about Baptism for yourself or your child, Confirmation, Reception into Episcopal Church, Marriage, Marriage Blessings, Funerals, or pastoral visits for yourself or a relative.
