About the Spiritual Formation of Children
Saint Bernard’s Church is committed to the spiritual formation of its youngest members and to nurturing them in the values of the Christian faith. To this end we direct our resources of time, talent and treasure.
In 2001 Mrs. Amy Byrnes joined the parish staff as program leader for children’s ministries. She has developed a Church School that is both effective in achieving its educational aims and user friendly for volunteer teachers and parents. Parent and family participation is important to us in this process.
The whole staff of Saint Bernard’s Parish is involved in strengthening this dimension of education for children. Our clergy, music leaders, and Office staff all contribute to the support of the Church School and its related programs and events.
Our most recent development in this ministry area has been the expansion of our children’s Confirmation program to a two year course using materials provided by the National Church.
We have also renewed our commitment to work in tandem on youth ministries with the Church of Saint John on the Mountain, our sister parish here in Bernardsville.
Briefly put, our ministries to children are essential to the vitality of our parish. We invite you to read more about our programs by clicking on the prompts to the left.
